What is Polygel?
Polygel by Gelish is a cross between acrylic and hard gel. The Polygel formula uses TriPolymer technology, that provides both versatility and consistency, allowing us to create flawless nail enhancements for you. The liquid used to sculpt PolyGel is called Slip, a material that makes it easy to mold and shape. The putty like consistency is made up of oligomers from gels, polymers from acrylics, and polymers from lacquer. This allows the product to be extremely mouldable, which means we can create an unlimited amount of designs, with no tacky layers left after curing.
One of the great benefits of Polygel is that upon application, the product doesn’t move until you apply pressure. Once out of the tube and on to the nail, the product stays put until cured. After application, the dry time is about 30 seconds in an LED lamp or two minutes in a UV lamp. A smooth and durable finish can be guaranteed due to the putty-like feel of the product.
What’s The Difference Between Polygel Nails and Acrylic Nails?
Polygel basically takes the best qualities of both liquid acrylics, powder acrylics and LED hard gels. Unlike hard gel, PolyGel is not self-leveling, but stays where you place it, and unlike acrylic, it doesn’t harden until it’s cured in an LED or UV lamp.
As Polygel is monomer-free, this prevents any uncomfortable odour that ensures a more pleasant experience for our clients. PolyGel does not require monomer in order for the product to set, simply because the formulation of PolyGel combines acrylic powder for strength in a gel base, providing no odor and faster workability.
PolyGel is also more flexible than acrylic, stronger than hard gel, and lighter than both, so you would hardly notice that you’re wearing it! Despite the lightweight texture, Polygel is harder to lift off the nails and is stronger than hard gels and much more flexible than acrylics.
